The MacKenzie Center is just outside of town and is renowned as one of the most diverse education centers in the state of Wisconsin. The center has 285 acres of property to work with and has many different attractions for visitors. These attractions include multiple trails, the logging & sawmill exhibits, the conservation museum, and tons more. One of the bigger attractions is the wildlife exhibit. To the west of Poynette you’ll find Lake Wisconsin. This 7,197 acre lake offers a very wide variety of fish including Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass, Northern Pike, Walleye, Panfish, Trout, and Catfish. Lake Wisconsin has 15 different boat landings for extremely easy access to the lake from any point on the lake. Heading further west you’ll find Devil’s Lake State Park, one of the staples of Wisconsin. Devil’s Lake State Park is open year round from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. and offers some of the best views in the state. From the top of the bluffs you’ll get a beautiful view of the entire park, which can provide some great scenery for a picture.
